Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Headlight Bulb Fitment Guide

Chevrolet Silverado 1500 bulb sizes and LED options

Start with the year and the lights actually installed on your truck. Silverado 1500 halogen, HID and factory LED headlights use different replacement parts; the 2007 Classic and 2022 LTD also need their own model identification. The bulb choices below are grouped by size, followed by the year and equipment references.

LED headlight conversion bulbs may not comply with FMVSS/CMVSS requirements for on-road use. Check applicable state and provincial laws before use.

H11 low-beam and H9 high-beam shopping options

For the newer halogen application shown below, shop the H11 family for low beam and H9 for high beam. Morimoto and GTR list H11/H9 compatibility on the products shown; the Alpha H11 option is shown for H11 low-beam shopping. A shared LED product family does not change the original H9 bulb designation.

The newer Silverado housing has limited space around the bulb and dust cover. Match the bulb base, available clearance and electrical requirements of the selected product. These are bulb-family choices, rather than a claim that every bulb pictured fits every Silverado housing.

Morimoto 2Stroke 4.0 and GTR Ultra 3.0 are sold as pairs. Check the selected product’s package contents; package size and the number of bulbs used by a vehicle are separate.

2022 Silverado 1500 LTD, halogen applicationMatch the original low-beam bulb9005 — keep LTD separate from the refreshed model
Factory LED headlight assemblyLED assembly; choose the matching assembly/service partLED assembly; do not substitute a halogen bulb

Why H9 instead of 9005? GM’s H9 high-beam part 84624411 lists the 2022–2026 Silverado 1500 WT, Custom and Custom Trail Boss applications. The 2022 LTD is a separate carryover model: Lasfit identifies its halogen high beam as 9005. A product advertised as an H11/H8/H9 LED replacement can cover multiple bulb families; use the original H9 designation when identifying the high-beam socket.

The 2024, 2025 and 2026 GM manuals distinguish base headlights from midlevel and uplevel assemblies. For factory LED assemblies, or a different original lighting package, choose the matching service part instead of using the halogen row.

Turn-signal and reverse-light options

The amber Morimoto 7440/7443 XB pair is an option for compatible amber turn/parking circuits; it supports both CK and standard wiring. The white GTR 921/T15 pair is intended for compatible reverse-light sockets. Choose the function and bulb type shown on your truck, not just the shape of the taillight.

Morimoto circuit note: its 7440/7443 product also lists 7444 replacement compatibility and is not compatible with PWM-driven DRL systems. CK support does not remove that PWM limitation. Its resistor-free design addresses hyperflash in most applications, not every possible vehicle setup.

Lasfit’s 2023–2026 WT/Custom/Custom Trail Boss application distinguishes standard WT signal wiring from CK wiring on Custom/Custom Trail Boss. The Morimoto option above supports both wiring types; factory LED signal assemblies still need an assembly-specific replacement.

Center high-mounted stoplamp (third brake light)Regular-cab bulb procedure onlyDo not assume the cargo bulb size or a reverse-light product is the correct brake-light replacement.

The replacement families above come from named bulb-manufacturer application information. The GM manuals establish the equipment and service procedures but do not provide a bulb-number chart. No per-vehicle bulb quantity is assumed from a retail pair or a diagram callout.

2021 Silverado 1500 — identify the installed lights

The 2021 GM manual separates base, midlevel and uplevel headlights, as well as base and uplevel taillights. It describes the bulb-changing procedures below but does not print replacement bulb numbers. Match the installed bulb or exact lighting assembly before choosing a size; a 2020 or 2022 row is not a substitute for identifying a 2021 truck.

Installed equipmentPosition / replacement path
Base headlight assemblyLow beam, high beam, sidemarker and turn/park positions are identified. GM gives base-headlight and turn-bulb replacement procedures.
Midlevel headlight assemblyThe front turn signal has a replaceable bulb. Headlamp replacement is directed to the dealer.
Uplevel headlight assemblyGM directs both headlamp and turn-signal replacement to the dealer.
Base taillight assemblyCombined stop/tail/turn, reverse and rear sidemarker are separate listed positions with bulb replacement instructions.
Uplevel taillight assemblyA replaceable reverse bulb is specifically shown. This does not make every function in that assembly a replaceable bulb.
Regular-cab cargo lampA separate cargo-bulb replacement procedure is provided.
Regular-cab third brake lightThe center high-mounted stoplamp has its own bulb and replacement procedure; keep it separate from cargo.
Crew-cab / double-cab cargo and third brake lightGM directs replacement to the dealer.
License plateA replaceable bulb procedure is provided; the manual does not specify its bulb number.

Choose front and rear equipment independently. A dealer-service instruction alone does not identify an HID bulb type or prove that every light on the truck is an integrated LED.

2020 Silverado 1500 factory lamp service

Base headlights have separate low-beam, high-beam, sidemarker and turn/park positions, with bulb replacement instructions. Midlevel and Uplevel headlamp replacement goes to the dealer; Uplevel turn signals also require dealer service.

The Base rear assembly identifies combined stop/tail/turn, reverse and rear sidemarker bulbs. The Uplevel diagram identifies a replaceable reverse bulb; it does not identify every other function as a replaceable bulb.

The cargo and third-brake-light bulb procedure applies to regular cabs only; crew and double cabs are directed to the dealer. Cargo and brake bulbs are separate positions. The license-plate lamp has its own bulb replacement procedure.

The manual does not list bulb numbers in these service instructions. Match the installed bulb or assembly; the separate catalog references below supply their own application information.

2020 manual notes and source

The Midlevel front diagram identifies the turn-signal lamp. Base, Midlevel and Uplevel are assembly descriptions here, not a mapping to marketing trims. GM directs replacement of LED lighting assemblies to the dealer and cautions against replacing incandescent bulbs with aftermarket LEDs because this can damage the vehicle electrical system.

Source: 2020 Chevrolet Silverado owner’s manual, printed pages 362–366 (PDF pages 363–367). These notes concern the 1500; they do not extend a bulb application to 2500/3500 HD models.

9005 high-beam shopping options

The earlier halogen applications in the table below use 9005 high beams. Browse Alpha, Morimoto and GTR 9005 options for a matching 9005 socket. The newer refreshed 2022–2026 H9 high beam belongs in the H9 family above.

These earlier entries are from the Philips 2022 application catalog, visually checked on its Silverado 1500 page. Separate Classic, LD and HD rows must not be merged into the standard Silverado 1500. The table lists the years actually present in that source; use the existing bulb designation for an unlisted year or a changed headlight assembly.

2016–2018 with factory HID headlights

Philips lists D5S in its separate HID column for 2016 and 2017–2018 Silverado 1500. Match the existing D5S capsule and HID system; an H11 halogen-conversion bulb is not the same replacement. That catalog entry does not assign separate low/high physical-bulb counts, and it does not cover a factory LED assembly.

9006 low-beam shopping options

For the 2000–2006 or 2007 Classic 9006 low-beam applications listed in this guide, browse these 9006 products. The standard 2007 new-body truck uses the H11 row instead.

2000–2001 Silverado pickup bulb chart

The 2000 and 2001 Chevrolet Silverado owner manuals list 9006 low beam and 9005 high beam. Use the 9006 low-beam options and 9005 high-beam options above for matching bulb-style headlights.

The dedicated DRL and front turn signal are separate lamps. Cargo and the third brake light also have separate bulbs, even though both use 912 here. Choose the correct color and function for the position; a white reverse-light product is not automatically a brake-light replacement. The counts above belong to the listed lamp or function group, not to a retail package or each word in a combined function.

These shared Silverado manuals mark separate chassis-cab alternatives: 1157 for tail/stop and 1156 for rear turn and reverse. Keep those alternatives separate from the pickup rows above. Neither chart lists a fog or license-plate bulb number.

Philips lists some positions with multiple original bulb designations. Check the printing on the existing bulb before selecting a replacement. Amber front turn/parking bulbs, red rear brake/tail bulbs and white reverse bulbs perform different jobs even when products share a socket family.

The catalog’s reverse/cornering column lists alternatives on some older trucks, so it should not be used to assume one reverse bulb across every year. Cargo is a separate column from the high-mounted stop lamp; the 921 brake-light entries above do not establish cargo-bulb fit.

Manufacturer use information

Follow the selected product’s installation instructions and stated intended use. GM’s 2021 and 2024–2026 manuals caution against replacing incandescent bulbs with aftermarket LEDs because this can damage the vehicle electrical system. These manufacturer instructions are separate from the bulb-size and physical-fit information.
