GMC Sierra 2500 and 3500 Bulb Size Guide

Find low-beam, high-beam, fog, signal, marker, brake, reverse, cargo and license-plate bulbs for Sierra 2500 and 3500 trucks. Choose the model year and original lamp equipment in each application below. HD, earlier ordinary models and Classic models have separate references.

Factory LED lamps: a headlight or taillight assembly with integrated LEDs does not use the halogen-conversion bulbs below. Match the particular lighting position; LED headlights do not establish the type of every other lamp on the truck.

Each shopping pair contains two bulbs. Check how many bulbs your chosen lamp position needs before ordering.

2024 Sierra HD headlights: the factory equipment guide lists LED headlamps across its seven trim columns. The older halogen and HID replacement options below do not replace those LED assemblies. See the newer factory equipment notes.

Sierra headlight bulb options

2016–2023 Sierra 2500/3500 — factory HID low/high beam

For original factory HID headlights, Diode Dynamics lists its D5A HID replacement pairs in 4300K, 5000K and 6000K. This is a combined low/high-beam HID application; it does not replace a halogen bulb or an integrated LED headlight.

4300K pair — DD1219P · 5000K pair — DD1220P · 6000K pair — DD1221P. Manufacturer HID application.

D5A and the older HID catalogue references

Diode Dynamics names this exact replacement application D5A. The older Philips sources print D5S or HID-D5S in their own equipment branches. Match the original bulb and manufacturer application; the source labels are not a global interchangeability rule.

2015 Sierra 2500/3500 — 9012 halogen low/high beam

The original halogen application uses one shared 9012 low/high-beam function. The White SL2 and SL2 Pro pairs below are listed for this exact 2015 application. A pair contains two bulbs, not separate pairs for low and high beam.

SL2 White pair — DD0465P · SL2 Pro White pair — DD0482P. Manufacturer 2015 application and installation photo.

Installation: the supplier specifies a 15-degree rotation for both driver and passenger bulbs. Follow its installation photo. These bulbs are polarity-specific. If dash warnings occur, the supplier advises 9006/9012 inline anti-flicker modules; those modules are sold separately and are not included in either bulb pair.

Morimoto and GTR H11 headlight options

These pairs are listed for 2007–2014 Sierra 2500 HD/3500 HD low beam, plus selected 2019–2020 trims. The selected trims are not named; match the original removable H11 low-beam bulb. Factory HID and integrated LED headlamps require their own application.

Sierra cargo, reverse and license-plate bulbs

2003–2026 Sierra 2500 — cargo light

For the original removable cargo-light bulb application, Diode Dynamics lists the HP36 Cool White pair, DD0143P. This shopping option is for the cargo light, not the centre high-mounted brake light or every bed, hitch and mirror lamp. Factory LED units need their own lamp-specific service.

Manufacturer cargo application.

2015–2024 Sierra 2500 — removable reverse bulbs

Choose these options only for the original removable, non-LED reverse-bulb application. Diode Dynamics excludes factory LED taillight housings. The HP36, XPR and HP5 Cool White pairs below are listed for this reverse-light application.

HP36 — DD0143P · XPR — DD0394P · HP5 — DD0031P. Manufacturer reverse application.

2003–2023 Sierra 2500 — 194 license-plate bulbs

These three Cool White 194 pairs are listed for the original replaceable plate bulbs. SMD2 is polarity-specific.

HP5 — DD0031P · HP3 — DD0024P · SMD2 — DD0037P. Manufacturer plate-bulb application. Other white tones are available through BTS; this application ends at 2023.

Front and rear signals, brake lights and markers

The following manufacturer references identify the original removable-bulb branches. Match the named position, lens colour and model year before requesting a product. Integrated LED lamps are separate.

For these BCM-controlled signal applications, a replaceable LED flasher is not a substitute for the supplier’s resistor requirement. Resistors are separate from the bulb pairs. The supplier describes a 6-ohm resistor method; follow the installation instructions for the selected product.

Supplier order lead time: 1–2 days when in stock at Diode Dynamics.

2026 Sierra HD factory lamp equipment

The original 2026 manual describes several lamp assemblies but does not print replacement bulb numbers. A service instruction or a numbered illustration is not a bulb-size chart. Use the supplier’s exact application and the bulb in the installed lamp.

Lamp / equipmentWhat the original manual establishes
Base-level headlightsRemovable low-beam/high-beam bulbs and front lamp service are described. No replacement bulb code or trim allocation is supplied.
Midlevel / Uplevel headlightsDealer service is specified. That referral alone does not identify a replaceable socket or prove every lamp’s technology.
Base-level taillightsThe manual describes removable sockets for the combined stop/tail/turn, reverse and marker functions; no bulb numbers are supplied.
Uplevel taillightsTail, turn, stop and reverse functions are explicitly LED and require dealer service. The statement does not assign the rear marker technology.
High-mounted brake / cargoRegular Cab has a removable-bulb procedure. Crew Cab and Double Cab are referred to the dealer; the Regular Cab bulb setup is not transferred to them.
License plateA removable-bulb procedure is shown, without a bulb number.

Read the original 2026 GMC HD owner manual. Fog, DRL, mirror and auxiliary-roof controls describe operation; they do not supply new replacement bulb numbers.

Newer Sierra HD factory LED equipment

The 2025 Sierra HD overview and 2026 Pro/SLE/SLT page describe LED projector headlamps. These headlamp features are separate from the original replaceable-bulb applications above. The 2026 fleet page lists LED cargo-area lighting as available, depending on trim; it does not identify every cargo lamp location or a replacement bulb.

2024 factory lighting by trim

The 2024 features/options guide has seven HD trim-family columns. Use the truck’s actual model and equipment; the table does not assign every trim to both 2500 and 3500.

LED roof markers are standard on all 3500 HD dual-rear-wheel configurations, overriding the optional trim cells for that equipment. The 2026 model table has no 3500 AT4X entry. These are separate year-specific facts; the 2024 matrix is not copied into another model year.

2025 original manual and service notes

2025 GMC HD owner manual, printed pages 334–337 (PDF pages 335–338). The manual directs readers to the dealer for the proper replacement bulb type and unlisted procedures. A dealer referral or numbered diagram does not establish a bulb code, bulb quantity or LED technology.

Under “Turn Signal Lamp Replacement,” the “Uplevel” heading is followed literally by “See your dealer for headlamp replacement.” This wording does not clearly resolve the Uplevel turn-signal service instruction and is not treated as a bulb-size or technology claim.

The manual cautions against replacing incandescent bulbs with aftermarket LED replacement bulbs because of possible electrical-system damage. Its generic LED assembly service instruction does not identify the technology of every lighting position.

2023 GMC HD owner manual (Spanish), printed pages 373–376 (PDF pages 375–378). No bulb numbers or quantities are supplied. Ask the dealer for the proper replacement type and unlisted procedures. A dealer referral does not establish LED technology.

Under the Uplevel turn-signal heading, the manual’s text refers to headlamp replacement. That wording does not clearly resolve the Uplevel turn-signal service instruction. The manual is GM’s official Spanish translation for the U.S. and Canada; it states that the English version prevails if wording conflicts.

The manual cautions against replacing incandescent bulbs with aftermarket LED replacement bulbs because of possible electrical-system damage. Its general LED-service instruction does not identify the technology of every lamp.

2022 Sierra HD factory lamp service

The manual directs headlight replacement to a dealer. It gives a bulb-replacement procedure for the Base front turn signal; identify that original assembly before choosing a bulb.

The Base rear diagram identifies a combined stop/turn lamp and a reverse lamp. Uplevel taillamp replacement is directed to a dealer. That instruction does not, by itself, identify the lamp as LED.

Cab-mounted cargo and brake lights: the bulb-replacement procedure covers regular cabs only. Crew-cab and double-cab owners are directed to a dealer. Cargo lamps and the center high-mounted brake lamp are separate positions.

The manual does not list bulb numbers. Ask your dealer for the correct replacement type and for service of factory LED assemblies. GMC cautions that replacing incandescent bulbs with aftermarket LEDs can damage the vehicle’s electrical system.

2022 service notes and manual

Under Uplevel turn-signal service, the manual’s sentence refers to headlamp replacement. Confirm the front turn-signal service procedure with your dealer.

Earlier Sierra bulb charts by model

These are original-bulb references from the Philips application catalogue, whose selected HD rows end at 2020. The catalogue’s 2022 edition date does not extend the vehicle years. Newer supplier applications above are separate. Keep the exact model label, year expression and parenthetical equipment condition.

A dash means the catalogue has no bulb entry for that cell. Combined labels can describe shared functions; they do not establish how many physical bulbs to buy. Where several bulb numbers are printed, compare the original bulb.

† Unresolved D5S equipment wording in the catalogue

The following cells literally print D5S(W⁄LED). That wording combines an HID-style bulb designation with an LED equipment qualifier. We have not converted it into a purchase recommendation or a removable bulb assignment for an integrated LED headlight.

Sources and equipment notes

Philips automotive application catalogue supplies the earlier model-specific chart. Its symbols describe product availability; they do not create a Canada/USA vehicle selection step. Philips’ Trunk/Cargo column does not identify the physical cargo location, so it is not used above to assign a CHMSL, bed, hitch or mirror bulb.

Original equipment, source differences and installation

Headlight, fog and rear-lamp options can differ on the same model year. Factory LED lamps, factory HID lamps and removable halogen bulbs are separate branches. Aftermarket replacement housings must be matched to their own bulb requirements.

The 2026 GM manual cautions against replacing incandescent bulbs with aftermarket LEDs because of possible electrical-system damage. Follow the exact replacement manufacturer’s instructions, required accessories and intended use. The supplier options in this guide are identified as manufacturer applications; the original GM manual does not certify those products.

Morimoto’s 5202 product application, Philips’ PS24WFF/12086 labels and Diode Dynamics’ PSX24W application remain separately sourced. They are not universal bulb aliases. Likewise, the D5A HID product application does not create a global D5S alias. A retail pair contains two bulbs, but the number of bulbs and packs needed for the installed lamp must be checked separately.
