POLARIS RZR XP · SS3 A-PILLAR KIT

2014–2018 Polaris RZR XP SS3 A-pillar installation guide

Mount, wire and aim the two SS3 pods in kits DD7846, DD7847, DD7848 and DD7849.

For 2014–2018 RZR XP1000 and XP4 1000. Check clearance with aftermarket cages, windshields and accessories before beginning.

Before you begin

Have 18 mm and 10 mm sockets, a 13 mm wrench and a 5/32-inch Allen key ready, along with a way to secure the wiring. The pod assembly PDF also lists a 1/2-inch wrench for its generic mounting hardware; use the tool that fits the hardware supplied with your kit.

The guide follows the supplier’s vehicle-specific installation photographs. Some photographs show an earlier SS3 lens; the mounting sequence is the relevant reference. Keep the supplied harness intact and use its matching connectors.

STEP 3 OF 15

Install the driver-side bracket

Set the bracket over the cage and line up its mounting holes. Reinstall the original cage bolts through the bracket. Follow the vehicle service requirements for these structural fasteners; the lighting article supplies no torque value.

STEP 5 OF 15

Assemble the SS3 pod brackets

Attach the U-bracket and side hardware to each SS3 pod in the orientation shown. Keep the side fasteners loose enough to aim the lamps later. The linked original SS3 PDF provides an additional assembly reference.

STEP 6 OF 15

Attach the first pod to the vehicle bracket

Pass the carriage bolt through the pod U-bracket and vehicle bracket. Fit the washer, lock washer and nut underneath, then use a 13 mm wrench to snug the assembly while retaining adjustment for aiming.

Choose the switch position

Place the included toggle switch where it can be reached safely. Mounting it through the dash can require drilling; check behind the panel first. An appropriate existing switch bank is another option. The photographs show examples, not a required mounting location.

Optional rectangular rocker switch

If you have the optional rectangular three-way rocker, disconnect the white connector on the included toggle lead and connect the rocker instead. Fit it to a suitable switch blank. Connect its black ground ring to a suitable ground to illuminate the switch. Follow the original diagram below; it shows the switch wiring, not the pinout of the pod connector.

STEP 14 OF 15

Test the two light functions

Restore the battery connection according to the vehicle service procedure, then test the amber accent backlights and the main beams separately. White or Yellow describes the ordered main beam; neither selection changes the amber accent colour.

Finish aiming and securing

Use the 13 mm mounting nut to adjust horizontal direction and the 5/32-inch side fasteners to adjust vertical tilt. Tighten the hardware after aiming, secure the remaining harness and reinstall the seat. Confirm the wiring cannot be pinched by the seat. Use these auxiliary lamps only where permitted.

Original assembly reference

Open the original two-page SS3 PDF

This is the generic reference linked by the manufacturer’s vehicle guide. It includes an earlier three-pin wiring table and historical output figures. Use its assembly illustration as a reference; use the matching four-pin harness supplied with this kit, not the older pinout or wire colours, for the vehicle installation.
