Alpha 360 and Glass Is Class Gen 2 share a real-glass watermelon-light look, but they are different systems. Alpha 360 is a complete three-mode specialty lamp. Glass Is Class Gen 2 uses a glass housing with a matching replaceable AlphaFit bulb and is offered in single-color and Duo configurations. The right choice depends on the functions, mounting plan, wiring and legal use required for the build.
The quickest way to choose
| Question | Alpha 360 | Glass Is Class Gen 2 |
|---|---|---|
| What is it? | One complete multi-mode glass lamp | One glass housing plus one matching replaceable AlphaFit bulb |
| Main functions | Steady, LED rotating simulation and strobe | Single-color dim/high or Duo separate-color control, depending on the exact bulb |
| Typical reason to choose it | A distinctive rotating or strobe effect for an off-road, display or novelty build | A modular glass watermelon-light system with replaceable bulb and housing components |
| Mounting | Custom two-bolt M4 x 8 mm flange | Match the Gen 2 housing, bracket, rear clearance and exact installation |
| Electrical headline | Four leads: common ground plus a power lead for each mode | Three lamp wires; functions differ between single-color and Duo bulbs |
| Voltage | Listed 12V/24V DC | Gen 2 lamps are listed 12V/24V; bundled harness/accessory limits must be checked separately |
| Road-use claim | Not a Class 1 warning light; off-road/display/novelty use with local-law check | No blanket SAE/DOT claim for the inspected Gen 2 range; confirm the exact product and intended use |
Choose Alpha 360 for three controlled lighting modes
Each Alpha 360 is sold as a complete glass-lens lamp. It has steady, LED rotating-simulation and strobe inputs with no motor or moving lighting mechanism. The documented control order is strobe over rotation and rotation over steady when more than one mode receives power.
The lamp uses a shared ground and one power lead for each mode. Its shape does not make it an OEM cab-light replacement, and the optional stainless bracket is separate unless an exact package says otherwise. Browse the Alpha 360 watermelon lights and read the exact color and included-parts information before choosing a configuration.
Choose Gen 2 for a modular housing and AlphaFit bulb system
A complete Glass Is Class Gen 2 light combines a real-glass housing with a matching AlphaFit Gen 2 bulb. The bulb and housing are also sold as separate replacement components, so the listing must be checked carefully. A standalone bulb is not a complete lamp, and a housing does not include a vehicle mounting bracket unless the product says it does.
Single-color AlphaFit Gen 2 bulbs provide 15W dim and 20W high settings in the same color. Gen 2 Duo bulbs provide two colors with one power setting per color. Do not apply the single-color dim/high description to the Duo versions.

A 24V-capable lamp does not make every harness 24V-capable
The inspected Alpha 360 and Gen 2 lamps are listed for 12V/24V operation, but the common Gen 2 expansion accessories have narrower limits. The DD4104 harness is a 12V harness with a listed 9–16V range. DD4100 splitters and DD4098/DD4099 extensions are also listed for 9–16V. A lamp’s voltage rating cannot be transferred to the rest of the circuit.
Plan mounting and wiring from the exact part number
Both families are intended for custom installations. Before drilling or powering a light, check the mounting opening or fastener pattern, rear clearance, bracket orientation, operating voltage, connector and wire functions for the exact product. Keep glass-retaining hardware secure without overtightening it, and keep the Gen 2 bulb’s cooling and venting area clear.
Use the watermelon light mounting and wiring guide for the full checklist. Browse watermelon light brackets only after confirming the opening and mounting direction needed for the selected light.
Questions about Alpha 360 and Gen 2
Is Alpha 360 a Gen 2 bulb?
No. Alpha 360 is a complete multi-mode lamp. Glass Is Class Gen 2 uses a separate glass housing and matching AlphaFit bulb.
Do Gen 2 Duo bulbs have dim and high settings?
No. The inspected Gen 2 Duo bulbs have one power setting per color. The 15W dim and 20W high description applies to the single-color Gen 2 bulbs.
Can I use a Gen 2 light on 24V with the DD4104 harness?
No. The lamp may be listed for 12V/24V, but the DD4104 is documented as a 12V harness with a 9–16V range. Every component in the circuit must be suitable for the system voltage.
Does either family fit an existing watermelon-light bracket automatically?
No automatic fit should be assumed. Compare the exact light’s mounting pattern or opening, bracket dimensions, rear clearance and included hardware before ordering.
