Product Overview
Fix flickering, eliminate bulb-out errors, and stabilize your HID system with the Morimoto Standalone CanBus 2.0 Wiring Harness—a simple, effective solution for vehicles with sensitive CANBUS headlight systems.
Why Choose the Morimoto Standalone CanBus Harness?
Modern vehicles—especially European platforms—use CANBUS systems that actively monitor headlight circuits.
The problem?
Most HID kits trigger:
- Bulb-out warning messages
- Flickering or shutdown
- Ballast startup failures
The Morimoto Standalone CanBus harness solves this at the source by replicating factory load behavior, allowing your system to operate as intended.
Eliminates Flickering & Warning Errors
Each harness includes a built-in resistor system that:
- Mimics a factory halogen bulb load
- Prevents “bulb out” warnings
- Stabilizes power delivery to your HID system
Result:
✔ Clean startup
✔ No flickering
✔ No dash errors
Built-In Capacitors for Stable Ignition
Unlike basic CANBUS decoders, the Standalone 2.0 harness includes:
- Japanese-made Rubycon 6800uF capacitors
- Provides initial power surge to ignite HID ballasts
- Maintains smooth, stable operation
This is critical for reliable HID performance, especially on sensitive electrical systems.
Simple, No-Relay Installation
This harness is designed to replace a traditional relay harness—not work alongside one.
Benefits include:
- Fewer connections
- Faster installation
- Uses factory headlight circuit for power
Plug it in, connect your HID system, and you’re done.
Designed for CANBUS Vehicles (Euro-Focused)
This system is most effective on vehicles with aggressive CANBUS monitoring, including:
- Volkswagen (MK5, Golf, Jetta)
- Audi
- BMW (E46 and similar platforms)
- Mercedes-Benz
⚠️ Important for truck customers:
- Not ideal for many Chrysler / Dodge / Jeep platforms
- These typically require Mopar-specific harness solutions
Universal HID Compatibility
Works with:
- 35W HID systems
- 55W HID systems
- All standard bulb sizes (with proper adapters)
Compatible with most aftermarket HID setups using standard connections.
Installation Notes (Important)
- Sold as a pair (one per side)
- Designed to be used instead of a relay harness
- Will NOT work with vehicles where low beam is used as DRL (pulsed voltage)
- Works fine if DRLs are on the high beam circuit
What’s Included
- 2 × Morimoto Standalone CanBus 2.0 Harnesses (Pair)
- Input adapters (based on selection)
Warranty Coverage
Backed by Morimoto’s 2-Year Limited Warranty.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does this harness actually do?
It mimics the electrical load of a halogen bulb so your vehicle doesn’t detect an error when using HID lighting.
Will this fix flickering headlights?
Yes—on compatible CANBUS systems, it stabilizes power and eliminates flickering.
Do I still need a relay harness?
No. This replaces a relay harness—it should not be used together with one.
Will this work on my truck (Jeep, Dodge, etc.)?
Not always. Many domestic trucks require Mopar-specific harnesses instead.
Will this work with DRL systems?
Not if your low beam is used as a DRL with pulsed voltage. It will not function correctly in that setup.
What HID systems is this compatible with?
Works with both 35W and 55W HID systems using standard connections.
