F-150 LED replacement bulb installation guide
Identify the original socket before ordering. This guide covers replaceable miniature bulbs; it does not convert integrated factory LED lamps.
Choose the right starting point
Diode Dynamics 3157 Red LED Bulbs (Pair)
Diode lists the replaceable-bulb 2021–2026 F-150 rear turn/tail application, including 2021–2023, but excludes the 401A Tremor package. XLT installations require the bulb tabs to be shaved completely flush. These bulbs do not convert a factory integrated-LED tail lamp.
Diode Dynamics 3157 White LED Backup Bulbs (Pair)
For a matching replaceable 3157 reverse-light socket. Diode’s F-150 application spans 2015–2023. A factory 4257 socket can use the 3157 option only after the illustrated tab modification. Not a replacement for factory integrated LEDs.
Diode Dynamics 7443 White LED Backup Bulbs (Pair)
For a matching replaceable 7443 reverse-light socket. Diode’s F-150 application spans 2015–2023. Not a replacement for factory integrated LEDs. A 4257 base uses the separately listed 3157 option with the manufacturer’s specified modification, not this 7443 pair.
Diode Dynamics 921 XPR Red Third-Brake Bulb (Single)
Use only in a matching replaceable 921 third-brake socket. Diode lists this application on 1997–2026 F-150, including 2021–2023. Check the original bulb and quantity: it does not replace an integrated factory LED lamp, complete housing or cargo-light bulb.
Diode Dynamics Short 194 LED License Plate Bulbs (Pair)
Diode lists short 194 replacement bulbs for 2018–2026 F-150 license-plate lights, including 2021–2023. Confirm a replaceable 194 socket and available clearance. This pair is not a complete replacement housing.
Diode Dynamics 194 Red / Amber Marker Bulbs (Pair)
For a matching replaceable 194 marker socket. Diode lists F-150 marker applications from 2011–2026, including 2021–2023. Match the original socket, lens and required colour: amber for the applicable front marker and red for the rear. This listing does not establish every position or aftermarket housing as compatible.
Reverse bulbs: compare the original base

Replacement sequence
- Access the lamp. Follow the vehicle manual for the particular bulb location. Switch the lights off and allow hot bulbs to cool.
- Remove and compare. Remove the original incandescent bulb and check its base against the replacement. Do not force a different connector into the socket.
- Seat the new bulb. Insert the LED securely. Apply a documented tab modification only when the exact application calls for it: the F-150 XLT rear-turn fitment and 4257 reverse conversion have specific notes above.
- Test before closing. Check the actual function—reverse, turn, tail, brake, plate or marker—while the lamp is still accessible.
- Check polarity if needed. If a polarity-sensitive bulb stays off, switch the lights off, remove it, rotate it 180 degrees and try again. Check that its terminals contact the socket properly.
- Reassemble. Once the function is correct, reinstall the lamp and any trim using the vehicle’s original procedure.
Rear turn signals need one extra check
Test the flashing rate after changing a turn-signal bulb. The F-150 application is BCM controlled and needs resistor correction if it hyperflashes; a replacement flasher relay is not the specified solution. Use one resistor per replaced turn-signal bulb and follow that resistor’s own wiring and heat-mounting instructions. This bulb guide does not supply a vehicle-specific wire-colour or splice location.
The Red 3157 application excludes 401A Tremor. On XLT, Diode says the bulb tabs must be shaved completely flush. Confirm the socket and application before modifying anything.

When the original lamp is different
If the lamp contains integrated LEDs, the base does not match, or the bulb cannot seat without force, stop and ask BTS to confirm the assembly. The red third-brake bulb is separate from white cargo lighting. Match marker colour to the required position and lens.
