The Alpha Series ReadyFit kit for the listed Peterbilt 589 headlight configuration includes H11 low-beam and 9005 high-beam LED bulb pairs, extended low-beam dust caps, a compact 9005 decoder pair and a 3g dielectric-grease tube. Match the installed serviceable H11/9005 housings and their cap openings before ordering.
Fitment and original equipment
- For the listed Peterbilt 589 headlight setup using serviceable H11 low-beam and 9005 high-beam bulb positions. Confirm the actual bulb markings, retainers and electrical connections.
- Do not apply this bulb kit to a complete factory LED headlight or a replacement housing with different bulbs, electronics or dust caps.
- Compare cooling clearance and cap closure before fitting. The included decoder pair is for use when the actual lighting circuit and installation procedure require it; it is not a universal error cure.

Before installation
Compare the actual headlight, bulb sockets and low-beam cap opening with the kit. The linked BTS written guide documents a 2008–2023 Peterbilt 389 ReadyFit installation. Use it as a reference only where the actual 589 headlight and wiring arrangement match; confirm the 589-specific connector and decoder procedure before fitting. Keep wiring and cooling components clear when closing the caps. Test the lighting functions and check final beam aim.
PACCAR headlamp and warranty note
Peterbilt’s Model 589 operator manual warns against LED replacement light sources in PACCAR headlamps: an incorrect bulb type can overheat because of the internal optics and may cause a fire. The 2024 Model 589 manual states that damage caused by LED replacement light sources in the documented headlamp is not warrantable. Installing aftermarket bulbs may affect warranty coverage for related headlamp damage.
Product questions and answers
Which bulbs are supplied for low and high beam?
The base kit includes two H11 bulbs for the listed low-beam positions and two 9005 bulbs for the high beams. Confirm those bulb types in the actual headlight; the kit does not contain complete headlight assemblies.
Does the reference video show a Peterbilt 589 installation?
The retained customer footage is identified as a Peterbilt 389 using Alpha Series bulbs. It is reference footage, not proof that every 589 headlight uses the same housing or a step-by-step installation demonstration for your truck.
Are 3157 signal bulbs part of the base package?
No. The amber ALPHA-3157-A signal bulbs are offered as a separate priced option. Review its package quantity and the quantity selected in the bundle before adding it.
Does the kit include a dedicated headlight-lens heater?
No. The bulb cooling components manage heat around the LEDs and electronics. They should not be treated as a dedicated system for melting snow or ice from the headlight lens.
Why should I compare the low-beam dust caps first?
The extended caps need to match the installed housing opening and leave room for the bulb, connector and cooling components. A cap that cannot seat properly does not become suitable simply because the truck is a Peterbilt 589.
Should the decoder modules always be installed?
Use the included 9005 decoder pair according to the actual circuit requirements and installation procedure. If the lights show warnings or flicker, diagnose the cause; the modules are not a substitute for correct bulbs, wiring and connections.
Does 11,000 lumens describe each bulb in the kit?
No. The current H11 and 9005 component ratings are each stated per set. Keep that unit with the number; it is not a per-bulb figure or a measured combined light-output result for the complete installed kit.
How should I interpret the kit’s availability and warranty notices?
Check the current availability notice above the purchase controls before ordering; a restock estimate is not a promised delivery date. The kit carries a lifetime limited warranty under its existing terms and exclusions, rather than an unconditional replacement promise.
