BTS Lighting · Factory headlight guide
Which factory headlights does your 2021–2023 F-150 have?
Compare your original Ford headlights with these three photos: Halogen, LED Reflector and LED Projector.
Look at the parts inside the clear front lens with the lights switched off. The reflector bowls or round projector lenses are more useful than the truck’s trim badge.
1. Factory Halogen

Look for two large, open reflector bowls—one above and one below the amber section across the middle.
The bowls have shiny, ridged surfaces. They do not have the round, glass-like lenses shown in the Projector photo.
On our product selector: choose Halogen. This maps to the Non-Projector Elite kit.
2. Factory LED Reflector

Look for four smaller rectangular reflector cells: two above the amber centre section and two below it.
These are open reflector surfaces, without the two round lenses of the Projector lamp. Having factory LEDs does not automatically mean Projector.
On our product selector: choose LED Reflector. This also maps to the Non-Projector Elite kit.
3. Factory LED Projector

Look for two round, glass-like projector lenses stacked one above the other inside the darker rectangular openings.
The circular lenses are the clearest difference from the open reflector bowls in the other two photos.
On our product selector: choose LED Projector. This maps to the Projector Elite kit.
Choose the kit for the original factory lamps
Halogen + LED Reflector → Non-Projector.
LED Projector → Projector.
This factory-headlight choice determines the matching adapter configuration. Elite or Elite Max is a separate choice; either version still needs the right factory-headlight configuration.
If you are unsure, contact BTS Lighting before ordering. Send your model year and a clear front-view photo of your headlights. Include any accessible identification labels if the truck has been modified.
Once you identify your factory lamps, check the Elite headlight fitment details for your truck.
