Connect Morimoto XB Type T fog lights

Identify the plug, test polarity and finish the optional protective film before refitting the lamps.

Match the original fog-light mounting

LF220 is the white-output Type T pair; LF222 is the amber-output pair. They replace matching factory fog-light assemblies, including the listed 2012–2023 Tacoma application. A truck without factory fog lights needs more than these replacement housings.

Compare the original housing, mounting spacing and H11 connection before removing parts. Some Toyota/Lexus brackets need a small adjustment or trim, and the wider mounting-point spacing can be tight. Use the vehicle service procedure to access the original lights.

Test polarity before locking the terminals

The shared XB guide shows three connector families. Type T uses the H11/H9/H8 form on the left.

The Type T input uses the H11-style connector. The shared manufacturer sheet also illustrates other connector types for other XB housings; those diagrams are not alternate plugs supplied for Type T.

For the bare-terminal H11/H9/H8 setup, determine polarity before inserting the pins permanently into the plastic connector. Keep the terminals separated, test the lamp through the original fog-light connection, then switch power off. Insert the terminals into the housing in the same orientation that worked during the test. Do not force a connector that does not match.

Optional protective film

If you ordered the matching film, peel off its backing and mist the adhesive lightly with water.

Optional film: mist the adhesive side lightly after peeling the backing.

Handle the edges, centre the film on the lens and press from the middle toward the edges to settle it evenly.

Centre the film and smooth outward from the middle.

If an edge lifts, the manufacturer permits a little warmth from a hair dryer while pressing it down. Keep the heat gentle and moving.

Use gentle warmth only if necessary to settle lifting edges.

Fit, test and aim

Secure the housings in the correct mounting points, keep the wiring clear and test both lamps before closing the access panels. Use the integrated adjusters to set a proper fog-light beam for your vehicle.

The linked XB sheet gives connector and film instructions; it does not prescribe an aiming height or a Tacoma bumper-removal sequence. Follow the exact vehicle and lamp aiming requirements.
