2016–2023 Toyota Tacoma Lighting Upgrades

Build a lighting setup around your truck, your routes and your original equipment. Compare complete assemblies, fitted off-road kits and the smaller replacements that finish the job.

Morimoto XB Evo Heated LED Headlights — 2016–2023 Toyota Tacoma (Pair)
Morimoto XB Evo headlights are one complete-assembly option. Check the original headlight equipment before choosing a pair.

Four details make the difference

Model year and trim

Start with 2016–2023 Tacoma, then check exceptions such as TRD Pro fogs and Trail Edition mounting.

Original lamp equipment

Factory halogen, factory LED and an earlier aftermarket conversion can require different wiring.

Cab and mounting hardware

Access Cab and Double Cab third brakes differ. Rack, receiver and bed-light equipment matter too.

Complete kit or component

A bracket, adapter or harness can be useful on its own, but it does not include the lamp or full kit.

For Canadian-market or modified trucks, compare the actual lamps and connectors with the product instructions. Send BTS photographs when the original setup is uncertain.

Complete headlights

Start with the lamps already on the truck. Choose the assembly and wiring for that original equipment; a similar-looking connector or model-year label is not enough.

Factory fog locations

Choose a complete lamp, a vehicle kit or a mounting kit deliberately. White or Yellow describes the main output; a backlight or programmable accent is a separate feature. Read each family's trim and original-fog requirements.

Ditch lighting

Add off-road side coverage with the correct Tacoma brackets and matched pods. Complete kits and bracket-only products are listed separately; do not assume the wiring or lamps are included in a bracket price.

Behind-the-grille lighting

A concealed bar keeps the main hardware behind the grille. Match the current bar or the separate Classic system to its own bracket kit and instructions.

Rack-mounted lighting

A rack light needs the right rack, cutout and supporting hardware. Vehicle-specific rack packages, rack lighting kits and bare CrossLink bars have different contents.

Tail lamps and cab-specific third brakes

Choose complete rear assemblies by model year and cab. Access Cab and Double Cab third-brake applications are distinct; appearance alone does not establish the correct part.

Reverse, hitch and rear work lighting

Compare a vehicle reverse kit, a harness-only item and a receiver-mounted lamp. Confirm the connector, mounting clearance and control method for the exact product.

Mirror, plate and bed lighting

Some replacements need the original lamp assemblies or factory bed-light equipment. A bed-rail utility light is a different installation from a factory bed-lamp replacement.

Replacement bulbs and interior lighting

Keep the correct socket, colour, length and pack quantity. These generic products can serve multiple vehicles; the Tacoma application does not make every option suitable for every lamp position.

Use the Tacoma bulb-size guide to identify the lamp position, then check the exact product option and package quantity.

Diode Dynamics 7440/7443 Amber or Red LED Bulbs (Pair)

Diode Dynamics 7440/7443 Amber or Red LED Bulbs (Pair)

Match the original socket, lens colour and lighting function. On the 2016–2023 Tacoma, Amber is listed for front turn signals and Red for rear turn signals. Red HP48 and HP11 are listed for 2020–2023 tail/brake lamps; Red XP80 is listed for 2016–2019 tail/brake lamps, not the later tail application. Factory LED assemblies without a replaceable bulb are outside this fitment.

Diode Dynamics 80 mm HD LED Retrofit Halos (Pair)

Diode Dynamics 80 mm HD LED Retrofit Halos (Pair)

Generic 80 mm retrofit rings. The current Tacoma-specific source covers 2016–2019 only and warns that bezel modification may be necessary. Opening, mounting, wiring and resealing are required. Do not extend that application to 2020–2023 or assume an aftermarket headlight has the same internal space.

Switching and wiring

Plan power, control and routing with the exact light instructions. A mounting kit or accessory harness does not include a complete switching system unless its package says so.

Headlight-specific accessories

Adapters, replacement drivers and protective film are tied to particular assemblies or original equipment. Check the associated headlight before adding one.

Optional rock and utility lighting

These are universal or equipment-dependent additions for a planned installation. Choose the required light count, controller and mounting method; the vehicle still needs a suitable mounting and wiring plan.
