Morimoto Backup Light Boost Bar Wiring Guide

Choose the compatible XB tail-light connection or the supplied universal reverse-circuit tap, using the original LED700 diagram.

Check the plate mount and wiring option

Check that the bar clears the plate surround, bumper and camera. The manufacturer specifies compatible US-style plate mounts and excludes the 2019+ Ram 1500 because of its bumper shape.

The supplied package has one Boost Bar, one input pigtail and one double-wire tap. Needle-nose pliers are listed for the tap; use a meter to verify polarity. Keep lighting power off while making connections.

STEP 1

Choose the matching connection

If the installed Morimoto XB tail lights have a compatible Backup Light Boost output, connect the bar to that output. Do not assume every Morimoto tail-light revision has it.

STEP 2

For universal wiring, identify polarity

Use a voltmeter or multimeter to identify the factory reverse-light supply and ground. Connect the supplied input pigtail with the double-wire tap as shown in the manufacturer diagram. Do not guess wire colours from another vehicle.

STEP 3

Secure and function-check

Secure the bar and harness with clearance from moving or hot parts. With the vehicle safely stationary, verify that the bar illuminates when the reverse circuit is active and switches off when it is not. Check that original reverse and plate-light functions still work.

Useful checks

Is the licence-plate lamp replaced?

No. The Boost Bar is an auxiliary reverse light. Preserve the required original plate illumination.

Does the guide specify Tacoma wire colours?

No. Morimoto’s diagram is universal and directs the installer to determine polarity with a meter.

Can I use the direct plug with any XB tail light?

Only with a matching Backup Light Boost-enabled output. Otherwise use the specified tapped connection to a suitable 9–16 V reverse circuit.
